Circle Of Security
Janine is an accredited facilitator of The Circle of Security Parenting™ (COSP) program and Circle of Security in the Classroom, providing programs to parents and teachers in small groups or individually. The COSP program is based on decades of research about how secure parent-child relationships can be supported and strengthened.
COSP helps you to understand more about your child’s emotional world by learning to read their emotional needs, helps you to support your child’s ability to successfully manage their emotions, and enhances the development of your child’s self-esteem. This program can also be provided for parents who have access to NDIS funding for their child or for themselves to support their capacity for parenting.
Play Therapy
Play Therapy is a specialised therapeutic approach designed to help children express their thoughts, feelings, and experiences through play. Recognising that children may struggle to articulate their emotions verbally, Play Therapy provides a safe and creative space where they can communicate and work through their challenges using toys, games, and artistic activities. This method allows children to process their experiences and develop coping skills in a manner that aligns with their developmental stage.
Through Play Therapy, therapists can gain insights into a child’s internal world, helping to address issues such as trauma, anxiety, and behavioural problems. The therapeutic play environment fosters emotional healing and personal growth, supporting children in building resilience and improving their overall well-being. By engaging with children in their language of play, therapists can facilitate meaningful progress and support their emotional and psychological development.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
EMDR is an evidence-based psychological treatment used effectively by mental health clinicians internationally for more than 25 years to assist people who present with a range of mental health conditions including PTSD, Anxiety and Depression.
Simply put, EMDR works by helping individuals reprocess and resolve disturbing and distressing past traumatic memories, reducing their negative impact. It is proven to be effective in diminishing present-moment triggers and symptoms, managing addiction-related urges and cravings, and establishing positive future behaviours.
EMDR Therapy is about more than just moving your eyes. To effectively prepare clients for EMDR Therapy, a range of complementary therapies and strategies are incorporated including Psychoeducation, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Stress Management, Mindfulness and Meditation, Guided Relaxation and Breathing, Problem-Solving and Decision-Making Skills, Assertive Communication, and Sleep Hygiene.
