Counselling Fees and Medicare Rebates in Cairns
At Indigo Counselling, we offer both in-person and Telehealth sessions and are registered with Medicare, allowing eligible Australian clients to claim Medicare rebates through a Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP).
The Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) recommends a standard fee of $240 for a 50-minute consultation. At Indigo Counselling, we are committed to making mental health support more accessible, and therefore offer a reduced fee structure as follows:
Counselling Session Fees
Initial Assessment- $200.00
- 75 minute initial assessment for individuals
- $89.50 Australian Medicare Rebate with MHTP
- Client Intake and Consent Form will be emailed to you prior to your first appointment.
Standard Counselling Session – $180.00
- 50-minute session for individuals
- $89.50 Australian Medicare Rebate with MHTP
Telehealth Session – $180.00
- 50 minute session for individuals via Zoom/Microsoft Teams
- $89.50 Australian Medicare Rebate with MHTP
- Telehealth link will be emailed to you prior to your appointment
Medicare Rebates
Medicare rebates are available for up to 10 sessions per year with a referral from your GP and a Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP).
To get a Mental Health Treatment Plan, you will need to book an appointment with your GP. Let reception know you are booking for a Mental Health Treatment Plan, as some clinics may allow extra time for this appointment.
Janine provides NDIS counselling support in Cairns for clients who are self-managed or plan-managed under the NDIS. Counselling sessions are tailored to support emotional wellbeing, trauma recovery, and daily functioning for NDIS participants of all ages.
Standard fees for NDIS counselling sessions are $180.00 for a 50-minute appointment. Where required, report writing is available at $180 per hour to support NDIS planning and documentation needs.
Cancellation
When less than 24 hours’ notice is given, 100% of the session fee will be charged.
When less than 48 hours’ notice is given, 50% of the session fee will be charged.
Please note that Medicare does not cover cancellation fees.
